Mad About Mad Hippie?

In my journey of going clean in 2019 one of the main skincare brands I kept stumbling upon was a very cute, colorful one called Mad Hippie. It was also pretty affordable compared to other brands in the non toxic space.

I decided to do some research into this popular brand and see what set them apart. The company was founded in Portland, Oregon with the goal to create skin care products that would create the smallest possible footprint on the environment. Their products are vegan and cruelty free, which of course wins extra brownie points in my book.

One review I read, even claimed that the manufacturer uses soy ink to reduce environmental impact, and donates $1 from every sale to The Wildlife Conservation Network. Love That!

So sure the company is being conscious but the real question at the end of the day is DO THE PRODUCTS WORK?

I did not purchase the entire line because the way bank account is set up…but I did purchase the Cleansing Oil, Vitamin C Serum, Antioxidant Facial Oil, Cream Cleanser, and the Face Cream.

My favorite product from the ones mentioned has to be the Cleansing Oil! This oil won a Better Nutrition Best of Natural Beauty award in 2019. It contains a blend of organic pumpkinseed oil, organic rosehip oil, organic safflower oil, ginger, white tea, and Squalene. This instantly takes away even the most stubborn make up. The instructions say to massage it on and wipe away with a hot towel but I just walk right into the shower and let it wash off following it with my daily facial cleanser.

Which leads me to the next product! The Cream Cleanser! Personally I don’t feel this product is anything to write home about BUT I do think everyone needs a good gentle cream cleanser for those moments when you’ve irritated your skin, or it’s feeling too tight, or just as a lightweight morning cleanser. What I do like about this cleanser is that it doesn’t leave your face feeling stripped because of its ph balancing ingredients.

Next we have the Vitamin C Serum. I feel like I can’t say too much about this product because I don’t actually have any dark spots and I haven’t used it long enough to see any remarkable results in fine lines. I can say that I do like the texture and the face that it absorbs into my skin quickly without leaving any residue. This is important for me because I know that I need to apply a sunscreen on top of a vitamin C for daytime use and I don’t want to feel like I have 30 layers of products on my face. In addition to the vitamin C this serum also has hydrating ingredients like the ever so popular Hyaluronic Acid, and vitamin E.

And if you’re someone in dire need of hydration then I would recommend the Antioxidant Face Oil. My skin tends to be on the oilier side so I mainly used this product as night when I wanted extra hydration. This product was also a Natures Best award winner in 2018. Another great thing about this product is that a little bit goes a long way and you get quite a large amount of product in the bottle!

Finally we have the Face Cream. This moisturizer is more on the thicker side but sinks into the skin quite nicely. While it is not my more favorite moisturizer in the world it is nice packaging to toss into your purse or for traveling. I will note that according to the website, this Cream was “Awarded Best Facial Moisturizer in Natural Solutions Magazine’s Beauty with a Conscience Awards “. I will definitely use up my little bottle of this and then decide if I will repurchase.

Overall I appreciate this company for their environmental consciousness. I also enjoy that I don’t have to worry about the ingredients they are using. Lastly the price point for their products make it easy for someone who I looking to enter the non toxic realm while still having organic good for you ingredients. Feel free to check them out and decide for yourself at
