Lazy Girl’s Guide: How to Be a Game Day Cutie

Sporting events can be difficult to figure out, “should I wear sneakers or wedges” “baseball cap or full on mermaid waves?”.  As a girly girl who always loves looking her best, I figured out a few tips that help me style the perfect game day look!

1.Know Your Game Day Environment

Prior to picking out my outfit, I like to check out what the weather is predicted to be like. Too often I’ve been that girl with a super cute outfit, freezing her toes off in the crowd….Do not be this girl!

If this is your first time going to a specific arena or ball park, do a little research to find out if it is an indoor sporting event, will there be AC or will you be sitting in the hot burning sun for four hours. This can change your entire outfit idea!

For most events, I find that layering works best! If it just so happens to be cold, a sleek leather jacket looks great over pretty much anything, and it keeps you warm. Layering also gives you the comfort of removing layers if it gets too hot.

Tying a cute flannel shirt around your waist can provide a nice touch to your outfit, but you can also throw it on over your t shirt if you get chilly.

2. Statement Piece

If you’re like me, it can be very easy to get carried away with your game day outfit. Maybe you don’t want to be a walking billboard for the team your rooting for, but you also don’t want to show up to a ballpark looking like J Lo heading to club Liv.

I find that even the most simple outfit, like jeans and a t-shirt can be made chic with a statement piece. I like to throw on my Chanel espadrilles, a cute side bag with a pop up color or maybe even some fun tassel earrings that are very IN right now to dress up my game day look.

The point is to look polished and fabulous without making it look like you spent hours getting this look together.

3. Eye Catching T-Shirts

Now a days there as soooo many cute private t-shirt  businesses that cater to creating cute catchy sports t-shirts for women, because let’s face it, sometimes Sport’s Authority just doesn’t cut it.

If you’re attending a sporting game to cheer on your athlete boyfriend or husband,  many companies can even custom make your t shirt to feature your hubby’s name or number like his jersey. You can find many of these vendors on or even just browsing through Instagram.

One of my latest favorite is a Texas based store called The Game Day Chic. I love how the sayings are unique and the fit of the t-shirts are very comfy, yet still easy to style. You can check out her website at baseball_forever_mockup_1024x1024Picture from

Finally, the most important tip I can give you when styling your game day outfit is to have fun with it and be confident! After all… its just a game 🙂
